Objective
Disseminate expertise on best practice in waste minimisation and pollution prevention in industry. Product will be a PC-based multimedia industrial environmental adviser, distributed on CD-ROM, with general-purpose input software allowing maintenance and development. Package will be promoted especially to small and medium manufacturing enterprises, where information is most needed.
Poor communication between experts and end-user hinders introduction of many environmental technologies. Multimedia systems offer improved presentation of technical material.
The aim is to promote best environmental practice and stimulate environmental innovation in European industry through the development of a PC-based multimedia industrial environmental adviser, to be promoted especially among small and medium manufacturing enterprises, where information is most needed.
EA Technology are experienced as environmental and efficiency advisers to UK Electricity Companies and their customers. The concept has been demonstrated in PC software performing some of the proposed functions.
Project outputs will be software input and output tools for dissemination of technical expertise for the multimedia PC, drawing upon multimedia and user-adaptive computer-based training technology.
These tools will be used to create a multimedia industrial environmental adviser to:
(a) ask the right questions
(b) offer a wealth of technical information, encouraging clean and sustainable technologies
(c) select solutions for the problems delineated under (a).
