European project for training staff to generate employment related to housing associations

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The Housing Associations which came into being with the economic crisis in Europe are facing an ever-increasing number of requests for accommodation from unemployed people. In order to prepare for the time when these Associations will no longer be able to respond to demand, the partners of this project propose to develop a measure which will work in favour of this group and to contribute to their reintegration into active life. To this end, the employees of these organisations will be made aware of the need for intervention and will receive training enabling them, on the one hand, to identify the resources made available to the unemployed to help them return to the labour market and, on the other hand, to participate in the creation of new jobs for this target group.

ACTIVITIES
Housing Associations in Austria, France, Germany, Italy and the UK will join forces with the partners in order to confront and analyse their experiences with unemployed people. On the basis of this information, the partners will then identify skill requirements with the aid of partner universities, and will produce a suitable training programme. The training modules created will then be tested with the staff of the Associations and evaluated in the countries of the various partners.

PRODUCTS
Creation of training modules in the form of a manual which will be distributed among all the members of the European network of Housing Associations. The partners thus hope to stimulate thought in this area and to create training tools to enhance the product.
