International development of European rail network managers

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The objective is to make European rail administrations aware of the set-up of the various enterprises in their sector, of their functions, recent structural changes and organisational strategies, with the aim of facilitating dialogue between the managements of different networks and the analysis of their own network.

ACTIVITIES
An annual one-week seminar for around thirty managers of European rail administrations will be organised with a European management institute. In addition, around ten managers will benefit from long-term training placements, referred to as "Euro-management secondments", which will involve holding an appointment in a foreign network.

PRODUCTS
A network of "international training" correspondents will be set up by the International Union of Railways (IUR) and the various railway administrations. It will contribute to monitoring these experiments and will help the IUR to establish a computerised bank of existing national training programmes which can be opened up to international candidates.
