Objetivo
OBJECTIVES
With the introduction of quality assurance systems, the SMEs in the metallurgy sector are increasingly finding themselves in competition with each other as they have to comply with very precise quality standards and therefore have to innovate on a continual basis. In order to preserve the competitive ability of these businesses it is important to make it as easy as possible for their employees to access continuing vocational training programmes. The project proposes to develop open and distance training tools which meet this need.
ACTIVITIES
The project will commence with a transnational analysis of the training requirements in the metallurgy sector in relation to the total quality concept. The partners will then design a general methodology for the creation and use of open and distance training tools. By pooling the results of these first two phases, it will be possible to construct training tools capable of meeting the needs of this sector. These will be used for training trainers, who will go on to become the tutors (or mentors/coaches) in training systems for employees of SMEs, who in the past have had difficulty in accessing continuing vocational training.
PRODUCTS
The developed programme will comprise a computer-assisted teaching system, a learning and orientation guide for the student, a specific manual for the teacher and a guide on how to monitor and evaluate the programme.
