European trade union training in social communication techniques

Objective

OBJECTIVES
The European EURO-FIET (International Federation of Technicians and Managers) conference, convened in April 1993 in Amsterdam, passed a resolution relating to the social skills of trade union officials, which requires them to undergo communications training. The partners of this project therefore propose to provide European trade unions with a reference system which will enable them to develop training measures focusing on social communication.

ACTIVITIES
In a first phase, exchanges will be organised in order to examine and analyse the different problems in each of the partner countries and the trade union communication strategies implemented on a national level. Once the training requirements have been analysed, short-, medium-, and long-term priorities will be defined. Training measures will be prepared and implemented. A methodological plan of action will be produced by pooling the results of the training requirement analysis, and by testing and evaluating the training programmes.

PRODUCTS
The project will result in the production of a social communication training guide. This guide will make it possible to assist European trade unions in analysing their training requirements, in developing training contents and programmes and developing evaluation methods.
