Biological and medical knowledge: technobiological and socio-economic change

Objective

OBJECTIVES
In modern-day societies, change is being seen in the area of health care. There is an ever increasing trend to move some of the examinations needed and treatment given into the home. This is made possible by the miniaturisation of biomedical instruments. In the light of this, the project seeks to provide high-level professional training which anticipates needs and actions while integrating the results of technological change. The courses aim to provide health care workers with key skills to facilitate their mobility and their attractiveness to companies, dealing with vast subjects ranging from the analysis of micro-technologies to the social and ethical repercussions which these can have.

ACTIVITIES
The programme is based on close co-operation between the research community and industry in the Biological and Medical Engineering sector. Five courses dealing with high-level technology and designed to address future trends are envisaged, delivered by European specialists. They will be subject to continuous assessment. Following assessment, the project aims to launch the transfer of experience in paper form with the targeted distribution of a summary document and the development of the consolidation programme.

PRODUCTS
- Creation of five training courses for the partners designed to find new concepts and new actions.
- Production of a summary document designed to train a target group by organising a training programme.
