Transnational institute for continuing vocational training in advanced electronics, microelectronics and associated technologies sectors

Objective

OBJECTIVES
Supporting SMEs appears to be vital for the economy and jobs. Universities have a number of assets at their disposal (constant contact with emerging technologies, etc.) which could help SMEs to expand their skills and thus their competitiveness. The partnership between universities and businesses should therefore be strengthened. Supporting the innovative capacity of SMEs involves work in two areas: technical support and adaptation of employees' knowledge. The project aims to co-ordinate training experiences in the sectors of advanced electronics at a transnational level and draw conclusions in terms of methods for on-going training.

ACTIVITIES
The project will be subdivided into four phases. The first will be devoted to the implementation of the various Study Groups (methodology, training, evaluation, etc.). The phase of programming seminars for experts and distance trainers will aim to produce an initial description of the methodology. The third phase (the production phase) will aim to co-ordinate training experiences in the SME, establish initial feed-back concerning the methodology and establish the documentary base. The last phase will be devoted to final evaluation and implementation of the programme for the distribution of the results.

PRODUCTS
The development of the methodology will be accompanied by the production of a number of tools such as a CD-ROM describing training methodology, a document analysing SMEs' support needs, a CD-ROM describing the technological resource centres selected and training seminars for employees and trainers.
