Objective
OBJECTIVES
A lack of professional management practice for artists, combined with a lack of appropriate training are factors which explain the inadequacy of this sector on the market. The objective of VITA is to improve the professional integration of artists by improving their skills as freelance workers. The project intends to develop training for trainers and courses where the content affects vital areas in which professional artists work. Although the project is directed at trainers, the main beneficiaries will be the artists themselves and young graduates.
ACTIVITIES
The project will carry out preliminary research in order to determine the artists' needs in professional terms. It will bring together and co-ordinate a group of experts who will define and then produce recommendations for working as a professional artist. These will be developed and translated into training courses for trainers. The course will be accessible to artists and graduates in the form of a CD-ROM. It will be tested in Ireland and the United Kingdom, then a final version of the course will be introduced in the form of a publication and a CD-ROM. A report describing the results of the project will also be published.
PRODUCTS
A training course for trainers to improve the management ability of artists. In the continuing training framework, the course will be introduced as an autonomous module, when it will be an integral part of the curriculum of third-level art institutions.
