Objective
OBJECTIVES
Immigrants with a multicultural background are often disadvantaged on the national job market and are therefore frequently on the fringes of society. The ability to master several cultures, however, should be an asset rather than a disadvantage. This is why the project aims to develop training modules on interpretation concerning terminologies used in the business world, specifically for these immigrants. The training will be on-and-off-the-job training (training periods in companies and theory training). It is also the intention to adopt a new training strategy for people from a multicultural background which could be transposed into other training contexts and other countries.
ACTIVITIES
The partners will initially produce the standard profile of future interpreters by analysing needs for qualifications. They will develop a new training strategy. Two sessions for trainers and training planners will then be produced and assessed in order to be able to provide them with the bases for training future business interpreters. Finally, a seminar for other organisations working with people from a multicultural background will be organised.
PRODUCTS
The project is finalised by a systematic description of a new vocational training structure for training interpreters who will be capable of juggling with business terminology. It will also outline a training concept for people from a multicultural background.
