Objective
OBJECTIVES
The aim of this project is to develop a new academic approach in initial training in the area of chemical engineering which will be more motivating than the standard approaches. The partners would like to develop training programme of which the content, learning methods and targeted skills are chosen and developed in such a way that that the training leads to the production of a genuine product, which is the result of transnational co-operation. The pilot training which will be developed will deal with vegetable oils for producing plant fuel. The partners will furthermore emphasise the acquisition of language skills by the trainees.
ACTIVITIES
The partners start by developing a new academic approach providing greater involvement and more responsibility for the trainees, and directed towards producing concrete products in the team. This educational method will be developed by a transnational partnership with the prospect of harmonising training and skills at European level. This project will use to the maximum the existing synergy between the different partners, companies and training organisations in order to set up pilot training modules. These modules will all lead to the creation of a product and will deal with different types of vegetable oils, different treatment processes of these oils, and the intermediate and final products which can be extracted from them. The modules will also make those involved familiar with the new methods of communication and will use the resources offered by the Internet.
PRODUCTS
- Creation of chemistry training aids on vegetable oils for young people in initial training and adults in continuing training (manuals and guides) and compilation of databases and educational software for distance training. These training aids will be available on the Internet.
- Setting up of training modules which aim to produce concrete products.
- Information publications, examples and experiments on the new academic approaches used.
- Guide to procedures produced during the pilot training on the production of plant fuels.
