Objective
OBJECTIVES
With the development of communication channels and the expansion of the tourism sector, tourist destinations have diversified. Knowledge of foreign languages is a prime requirement. Many professionals in this sector have no command of foreign languages, like many trainers responsible for vocational training. To fill this gap, the project wishes to set up language training modules firstly for trainers, then training programmes for professionals in this sector.
ACTIVITIES
The partners will analyse the present level of language skills which trainers have. At the same time they will look for the skills to be acquired in order to remain competitive. By collating the results of the two surveys, they will initially produce training modules for trainers and secondly, training programmes for professionals in this sector or for students in the process of looking for jobs. The training will be assessed by relating the language knowledge acquired by students to the language training skills of the trainers.
PRODUCTS
The project will lead to two language training modules being set up, one aimed at trainers in the tourism sector, and the other at the professionals in this sector. Teaching aids such as tourist guides, audio-visual cassettes will be produced alongside them. A databank providing on-line data processing distribution of the aids produced across Europe will be set up.
