Design of open and distance learning vocational training in multimedia for disadvantageous people

Objective

OBJECTIVES
Traditional vocational training for physically disabled people is very costly because it often requires special transport to the training centre, special equipment, rooms adapted for disabilities, interpreters for students with poor hearing, etc. For some years now an attempt has been made to reduce costs in this training sector. This is why the project intends to develop open and distance training tools for disabled people which would therefore reduce training costs whilst ensuring quality training.

ACTIVITIES
In the first place, the partners will thoroughly analyse the demands made by users. Training modules will be produced based on these demands. They will be supported by easily accessible computer tools, interfaces and instruction manuals for trainers. Educational software will be assessed before being distributed and transferred to all training centres working with disabled people.

PRODUCTS
- Educational multimedia software consisting of 29 open and distance training modules supported by video cassettes, CD-ROMs, some of which are available on the Internet.
- Recommendation manuals for disabled students enabling them to use new modules easily.
- Instruction manuals for trainers providing information on open and distance learning.
