La science pour tous à Chypre
Familiariser le grand public, en particulier les jeunes, aux chercheurs et à leur travail est essentiel pour éliminer les stéréotypes relatifs à la science et stimuler l’intérêt pour des carrières dans la recherche tout en contribuant au développement d’une culture de la recherche et de l’innovation (R&I) dans le pays. Le projet The Night Deal, financé par l’UE, organisera un événement de la Nuit européenne des chercheurs à Nicosie, à Chypre. Avec son slogan «La science pour tous», il montrera des travaux scientifiques et leur impact au grand public et en particulier à la jeune génération. Coordonné par la Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), le projet regroupera des chercheurs et le grand public, en ciblant la promotion de l’initiative du pacte vert pour l’Europe et en sensibilisant sur les activités de recherche et d’innovation pour un monde plus vert et plus intelligent et un avenir durable. Il sera également l’occasion de reconnaître les progrès réalisés à Chypre au cours des dernières années dans les domaines de la R&I en général.
Objectif
The Night Deal proposal aims at organising a European Researchers' Night (ERN) event in Nicosia. The proposal's overall objective is to reach out to the wider public and raise awareness about the research and innovation (R&I) activities undertaken at national and EU level while boosting knowledge about the benefits of science to society in order to stimulate the interest in research careers, especially among young people and their families. The Night Deal aims also at promotimg the agenda of the European Green Deal initiative for a greener and smarter world, for a more sustainable future through R&I. The Coordinator, the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), as the National Agency for supporting R&I, has within its remit gained a long experience in organising activities for the promotion of R&I towards the public and especially the younger generation, with the ERN events being an integral part of its philosophy since 2006, and always with the vivid support from the National R&I System. The proposed event will be the result of a long-lasting and well established collaboration of the RIF with all relevant R&I stakeholders (government, industry, academia) and participants from the public ensuring maximum complementarity. Building on past experiences, The Night Deal will bring together researchers from all sectors and disciplines, along with the public, increasing appreciation of the researchers’ work, raising awareness on the importance of R&I for society and the economy and motivating young people to take up a career in research. With the motto 'science for all' as a flagship and through pre-events, side and main event consisting of a balanced mix of edutainment and inreactive activities aiming at people of all ages, genders and educational backgrounds, The Night Deal will celebrate R&I achievements, especially EU funded and will ultimately remove stereotypes about the researchers’ profession, creating a much needed R&I culture among the Cypriot society.
