Résumé du contexte et des objectifs généraux du projet

European Researchers Night R4H 2020 continued the series of events already organized in Romania from 2007.
The event built a strong link between public and research through this important message of relevance: what science and researchers do are useful for daily life, and their life is as everyone’s else.
Important players from science and education joined forces in creating the most important national wide project. The public was invited to come, play, talk and learn about researchers and to understand how science can be used in the benefit of humanity.
Based on the outstanding awareness of the European dimension of the event that was created throughout the years, European Researchers Night 2020 confirmed as being one of the most important communication events for research and education institutions.
The national ERN network grew with the support of the European dimension of the event and the awareness created among researchers and the public altogether. The researchers, teachers and students got involved, promoted in their area the work that they performed and had national exposure at the event.
Over 76.251 visitors took part in the activities offered in 2020, over 318 researchers got involved in the activities offered and over 1.310.000 people were made aware of the European Researchers' Night and its objectives. Partnerships were continued at national and local level.
The event itself was organized in 21 cities from Romania.

The project has reached its objectives and proved to be successful.

Promotion during other public events;
Promotion towards the public national authorities (ministry of education and research, national authority for research);
Teaser activities in educational institutions throughout the whole country;

Revamping, constant updating of social networks profiles (Facebook “Noaptea Cercetatorilor Europeni - Romania”) with relevant posts and photos of the activity, Instagram account, promoting the #ERN, #NCE2020, YouTube account with videos evolution about the Romanian events of European Researchers Night, Twitter account;
Posting of announcements and articles on internet blogs, Vlog channel;
Posting of press release online



Activities during the Night
Main concept: RESEARCHERS FOR HUMANITY, a special designed space with main areas that will invite visitors in various activities;
Topics: earth sciences, human performance, with sport and medicine researchers, social sciences with linguists, historians and any other researchers in socio-humanistic sciences, robotics and technical sciences;
o Offer of the activities as planned in the Annex I part B to the Grant Agreement, organized around the following topics:
o Earth Sciences;
o Human Performance: sport and medicine researchers;
o Social Sciences: linguists, historians and any other researcher in socio-humanistic sciences;
o Robotics and Technical sciences;
o Art

Active involvement of 318 researchers, of whom:
14 having benefited from MSC schemes;
In the online format, the national EU corner was represented by the interactive online discussions, designed as a world cafe – “The risks and benefits of the digital world”, moderated by Europe Direct, by games and contests that tested the public’s general knowledge about the European Union and the presentations of the 14 Marie Curie fellows. The website and social media pages of the event worked as Info Points, providing information about the European dimension of the ERN with links to other projects, to MSCA and to the European Commission;

Progrès au-delà de l’état des connaissances et impact potentiel prévu (y compris l’impact socio-économique et les conséquences sociétales plus larges du projet jusqu’à présent)

"Collection and processing 2858 feedbacks, through:
Online survey (21 questions, displayed during the event, at national level), randomly selected, mostly composed of students, teachers and parents;
Focus group organized with students and researchers;
Main conclusions:
Typology of visitors: the age of the responders concluded in 57% between 15-24 years, 13 % (25-39 years), 26 % (over 40 years); The most responders were women 62 % and 38 % men. The educational background of the responders was various: over 41% graduated from a secondary school or High school, while 59% graduated university studies (license, master, PhD and Post PhD studies); Knowledge about the event: public advertising, pre-event caravan, vlog and blog, on line announcements;
Overall positive feedback regarding the online format of the event, national exposure, concrete organisation, scheduling, activities proposed, contacts with researchers;

Combination of entertainment and science, interferences with young researchers holding an accessible language to the audience
Increased interest for the event expressed by both public and mass media compared to previous edition
Increased interest for scientific careers expressed by young people attending, notably through the ""5highSchools, 5Sciences"" activity (elaboration of research projects by students and researchers, presented during the events), with the wish expressed young people to get involved in educational projects
Specific feedback from students from focus group:
o Accessibility of researchers involved: language, clear explanations, young and committed;
o Novelty to be discovered everywhere: stands, technology, projects, breakthroughs, and consequently increased knowledge after having participated in the event;
o Clear awareness of research contribution to facing daily challenges, research being the way a better and evolved world."
