European Young Eye

Project description

Keeping an eye out for presbyopia treatment

Age is the greatest risk factor for presbyopia. It is the most common physiological change occurring in the adult eye after age 40. It’s an age-related eye condition that makes it hard to see close up, because the lens of the eye becomes increasingly inflexible over time. The most popular and non-invasive treatment option includes wearing corrective eyeglasses. The EU-funded EYE project will strive to advance scientific knowledge in order to develop better therapeutic solutions. Bringing together a team of optometrists, chemists, biochemists, physicists and computer engineers, the project will train five early-stage researchers in state-of-the-art concepts and leading-edge research techniques.
