Riding a ‘Trojan horse’ against cancer

Periodic Reporting for period 1 - TROJAN (Riding a ‘Trojan horse’ against cancer)

Período documentado: 2021-01-01 hasta 2022-12-31

Macrophages are continuously recruited into the tumor mass, even to the most hypoxic regions, and therefore represent a promising vehicle to deliver cancer therapeutics into the tumor. The pioneering research of our team demonstrated that macrophages are able to take up ferritins loaded with anti-cancer drugs, creating Macrophage-Drug Conjugates (MDCs). We have demonstrated that MDCs actively migrate to solid tumors, and we have proven that MDCs can be used as a ‘Trojan horse’ to efficiently deliver drugs directly to the cancer cells.

Now we aim to turn the MDC technology into a commercial and social value proposition by translating our findings to more reliable pre-clinical model for further clinical development. This project provide the proof of concept for the efficacy of our innovative MDC technology, and establish the viability, feasibility, commercialization and overall direction for our MDC technology.
