This deliverable will outline of feasible services under the given technical conditions and the current regulatory framework based on the study cases. Most promising use cases of Task 2.2 will be quantified by using cost benefit analysis (CBA). This includes the provision of services and desired return on investment for the different players. Based on the outcomes of the CBA, business models will be described including identification of barrier and suitable financing instruments.

This deliverable compiles the effect of different converter control strategies and the harmonic firewall effect to hybrid ac/dc grids. Further, the effects of propagation of harmonic oscillations through different grid is reported.

This report contains and validates condition-monitoring methods for the AC-DC grid-connected converters. A method will be developed, allowing for a grid-connected converter to inject high-frequency perturbation into the AC grid, to gather response and determine the grid impedance over a certain frequency range of interest. The method will be tested in the EPFL demo site.

The protection aspects of the DC microgrid and AC DC power systems will be analyzed by modeling and simulation of the Terni demonstrator, considering suitable fault scenarios and recommendation for protection coordination strategies. The deliverable includes the results from the deployment of fast DC circuit breaker sample(s) in the demonstrator together with some basic testing, depending on component availability.

Sudden loss of main AC slack bus in micro-grid, and need to perform a reconfiguration manoeuvre, offer multiple possibilities if that micro-grid is hybrid AC-DC installation. Impact of presence of multiple DC buses, will be investigated and verified through simulations and experimentally, in order to determine performances and compare them against well documented pure AC systems.

This deliverable describes the integration of the three different pilot sites (Swiss, German and Italian) via a geographically distributed real-time co-simulations, by means of the VILLASframework tool. The report refers to the activity deployed in the tasks T6.5, T7.5 and T8.6; it presents the technical details for the interconnection of the devices in each demo site to the implemented tool, analyzes the test scenarios and discusses the system performances.

To facilitate continuous progress in the demonstration sites the project structure has been chosen to organize parallel work packages (WP6-8). The drawback is, that this structure fosters parallel development without necessary exchange.
