Video Livestreaming Has Never Been Easier And Can Help Us Stay Connected During COVID-19

Periodic Reporting for period 2 - Contentflow (Video Livestreaming Has Never Been Easier And Can Help Us Stay Connected During COVID-19)

Período documentado: 2021-07-01 hasta 2022-06-30

There are several challenges with video livestreaming. Multi-Platform Streaming is Time and Cost Intensive: When wanting to stream on different platforms simultaneously, each stream needs to be set up separately consuming their own bandwidth each.
Bandwidth Issues: Stable Internet connection speed is a key to successful live video streaming process. Considering that wireless connections tend to tolerate Internet connection drops more often, video streaming requires a DSL or cable connection in order to succeed with live video streaming.
Offering a Smooth Experience: It is not always easy to deliver a smooth experience because of the nature of certain livestreams.
Building an Audience: Requires figuring out an effective means of distributing live video on a mass scale. It is important to be sure that the videos are available on high-traffic pages that contain content relevant to the target audience.
Freedom of communication is a human right. However, the freedom of press is hierarchical, biased, and non-interactive. The Internet represents the breakthrough to reach free communication: Any citizen is entitled to publish information worldwide himself, and any other citizen has the right to receive, to judge, and to use it himself, under her/his own responsibility. The democratization of information makes it possible, that ideas, opinions, cultural diversity, knowledge, and education will be accessible anywhere, anytime, and to everybody. Corruption, injustice, abuse of power, and any form of terrorism will be exposed. Ignorance and the human disasters caused by it will decrease. Universal values and ethics of peaceful living together will become possible. With Contentflow, video information can reach anyone’s devices with Internet connection while live and allows people to make their own research and form their own opinion.
The goals were to create a Technology Roadmap, to conduct market assessment and business model assessment, as well as a risk analysis. We also conducted OP assessment and created a business plan.
We do envision ourselves as the go-to one-shop for livestreaming all over the world. If you want to livestream your event, you’ll use Contentflow to do that – because we do provide all tools that are necessary under one roof. We want to become the market leader when it comes to livestreaming, at least in Europe and North America.
During the project duration, Contentflow successfully tested its assumptions in real-life settings, establishing itself as a versatile and reliable livestreaming platform. The platform was adopted and tested by the European Union's second-largest broadcaster, ARD, and granted the opportunity to livestream German soccer, including the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. Additionally, Contentflow streamed major European conferences such as the Online Marketing Rockstars, ITB (the world's largest travel convention), Green Week (the world's largest public audience conference), and Games Convention, among others.

Contentflow is regularly employed by democratic initiatives, associations, trade unions, governments, and media stations to democratize livestreaming and increase engagement throughout the European Union. During the project, numerous features and improvements were implemented to enhance the platform's performance and user experience. These include:

Automated subtitling in major languages
Rebuilt restreaming and transcoding mechanisms
Improved upload speed and video processing times
Redesigned frontend and chat interface
Transition from Firestore to MySQL
Enhanced security for selected streaming events
Introduction of re-live functionality
Switching from static to dynamic images
Unified interface elements
Adjustable settings for DVR and latency
Creation of a "flow-chart" feature
Enhanced live-clipping feature
Integration with all major social networks
Added SRT functionality
among many more

These advancements have greatly contributed to Contentflow's success in delivering a comprehensive livestreaming experience, allowing it to cater to a wide range of users and democratize access to live content across the European Union - while maintaining GDPR compliance.
Live streaming software provides parallel live-streaming and a Full-HD viewing experience without a loss of resolution. It will increase the understanding of the target audience by collecting data on the viewer. In this way, livestreaming publishers will be able to learn about their viewers and see how many have watched their stream at any given moment. They will also be able to visualize the geolocation of your audience through heat maps.
Contentflow Innovation 1: Proprietary Software Components: All the single components of Contentflow are proprietary and have been developed in-house.
Contentflow Innovation 2: One-Stop-Shop for Livestreaming: Contentflow covers the entire suite of needs for video streaming (and not just aspects of it) as opposed to competitors.
Contentflow Innovation 3: Streaming Engine: Because we have not used any existing solution, we re able to do very impressive awesome things like introduce live-clipping, without waiting times for video material to the world and offer a white-labeled innovative streaming solution, embeddable on websites and all social channels
Contentflow Innovation 4: Automated Subtitles in all major languages: Instead of manually subtitling the livestream or the VOD afterwards, we automatically create almost perfect subtitles LIVE in all major languages. Proven by usage by a State Parliament but even more importantly by Channel 1 (ARD Aktuell / Tagesschau) in Germany.
Freedom of communication is a human right and one of the EU’s goals. Contentflow can help the democratization of information, as it can reach anyone’s devices with Internet connection while live. We allow people to make their research and form their opinion, which is an important right and enables Europeans to share their ideas, opinions and create cultural diversity.
