Good manufacturing practice (GMP) training for bulk pharmaceutical chemical

Objective

The European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) has recently stated that all personnel involved in production should be trained in good manufacturing practice and that this training should be repeated regularly as new processes are being introduced.

This pilot project will enable participating companies to develop and maintain quality training systems in their organisations. It will achieve this by producing a good manufacturing practice programme for bulk pharmaceutical chemical companies (BPCs) with an Internet support system for students; a training manual for trainers on how to implement the programme and a sample learning module with student support from the Internet site. The learning module will be accessible 24 hours a day and will include a student record and management system which can be audited. The partnership delivering the programme involves pharmaceutical companies and their representative institutions, a national training agency, relevant consultancies and a multi-media production company.

Impact
The introduction of a new and relevant training system for bulk pharmaceutical chemical companies which will be accessible to all will create common standards of good manufacturing practice in the pharmaceutical sector and a culture of continuing training.
