European quality fish network

Objective

Educational levels in the fish industry are lower than in other branches of the food sector. The rate of staff turnover is higher. There are consequently difficulties in ensuring product quality and customer satisfaction. The broad aim of this project is therefore to promote training and education for all fish industry employees concerned with end-product quality. The specific goals are to identify gaps in education and training provision and to increase workers' access to it.

The main regional partners will conduct a questionnaire survey amongst pre-identified groups of employees. The resulting data will be processed and analysed centrally. Experts will also draw up reports on training needs. An inventory of training solutions will be produced with a view to promoting access. This will be disseminated actively throughout the network and via the supporting student and staff exchange programme. Tangible products will include a training needs analysis tool, a report on training needs and a comprehensive inventory of training solutions for the fish industry.

Impact
The main outcome of this project will be the European network that, through its activities, will affect the training approach and structure of a significant number of European universities and companies working in the fish industry.
