Objective
The need for flexible training of workers in a context of technological change, the limited time available for training SME workers and the existence of important new work opportunities that are not adequately covered by existing training have led the partners of this project to conclude that they should focus on developing training using new technologies. The project will develop a distance learning system using information technology combined with TEN-ISDN telematic networks, together with optimal tools for course design. This will enable SME workers to undertake training in the workplace or even from home if they have access to a computer and a basic access programme.
The partners will undertake a joint needs analysis and pool their experience and expertise in training, technology and dissemination. Five training areas will be covered by the project:
- environment as a quality policy within the company;
- product norms and quality;
- multimedia as a tool for SMEs;
- marketing and commerce;
- and SMEs and the Single Market.
Impact
The development of a telematic system and the introduction of a flexible and interactive methodology will disseminate the results obtained to all interested users and will increase supply of training available to workers and companies.
