Vocational on-line training system

Objective

This project addresses the problem of busy aspiring support and IT professionals being unable to attend traditional face-to-face courses. Existing face-to-face courses will be redesigned to be delivered via the Internet and translated into French, German and Spanish languages to enable trainees to work in their own language and at their own pace at or near the workplace. Trainees will interact with each other and the instructor to develop their skills. Partners will, amongst other things, provide local training centres for support and also ongoing course development and dissemination.

At the end, the project will have tested and delivered those skills needed to become proficient at IT support in its various forms and be a model for other course delivery using the Internet. The trial and final course delivery will provide qualitative and quantitative feedback for analysis of the success of the project. The intended self-study learning materials will use a combination of written, multimedia and video packs.

Impact
The project has been conceived to enable learners to study and gain an internationally recognised practical information technology support qualification, using self-study learning materials and instructor interaction, over the Internet.
