Management in the Millennium

Objective

This project is designed to improve managerial skills of women in supervisory and lower management occupations. It will address directly the lack of women in higher level managerial positions and the lack of management training accessible to women. It also questions and challenges traditional management theory and will promote an alternative approach to developing and using managerial techniques. It is envisaged that more women will have managerial skills and qualifications as a result of this project.

The project will develop training modules in the specific managerial skills of human resource management (team building, leadership etc.) and is designed for women to study by a combination of distance learning and through attending seminars. The project will be piloted in small and large companies, in 3 occupational sectors to ensure that the final product (a training pack consisting of CD-Rom, workbook and seminar leaders guide) is as universally applicable as possible.

Impact
The project will enhance career and employment prospects for women managers and therefore address equal opportunities issues relating to women and management.
