Objetivo
As a FORCE Programme study noted, intense changes in the road transport sector have transformed the skills companies require of their employees. Customer service has become paramount, as have commercial management skills, foreign language knowledge and computer literacy. Employees now have to fulfil a range of functions on top of the main ones of driving and journey organisation.
There are four main objectives:
- development of a common skills framework for four occupations, taking account of the three key functions of driving, journey organisation and commercial representation;
- production of a guide on innovative skills validation and training arrangements in the road haulage sector;
- creation of a database on training supply with regard to the four occupations covered, with a view to helping orient new entrants into the profession as well as employees who want to up-grade their skills;
- to strengthen and enhance the work of the Road Transport Joint Committee in the area of vocational training.
Impact
The potential beneficiaries of the project can be divided into five groups: training managers in companies, sectoral training organisations, the social partners (in terms of the way they structure training in the sector), young people entering the workforce or those already employed, and training system.public authorities, who can use the results to improve the vocational.
