Managing diversity - innovative research towards mainstreaming equality

Objectif

The aim of this survey and analysis is to help companies in Europe to become more competitive through enhancing their use of human resources. This is to be done through learning about the American model of human resource management known as 'managing diversity'.

An interdisciplinary, transnational research team will be seeking to clarify the concepts of managing diversity and mainstreaming equality through documenting European experiences of this model. Lessons learned from European case studies will be analysed and synthesised and implications for training identified. A 'validation team' of social partners, equality agencies, management institutes and regional development institutions will advise the research team, validate the results and engage in a broad programme of dissemination activities.

Impact
The project will lead to the creation of a transnational network of academics, companies and human resource management experts which has a clear understanding of the costs and benefits of managing diversity.
