Initial training of young people in the catering and commercial sectors using multimedia

Objective

The use of multimedia learning materials is not yet very widespread in the catering and commercial sectors. Learning modules incorporating self-learning media, CBT and telematic networking between educational centres at transnational level and companies at national level are to be implemented in order to improve initial and continuing training in the catering and commercial sectors. The aim of this project is to develop and test methodological-didactic aids and media to facilitate the implementation of extensively self-learning modular units in the workplace and in training centres.

This project is to be carried out by the partners who are developing, testing and distributing short courses/modules and methodological-didactic tools, etc. in workshops. In-company self-learning stations will be set up for this purpose, with telematic links established between the transnational partners and pilot companies involved. The project partners will form working teams, each consisting of a technician (engineer) and an education specialist. The outcome will include the production of:
- training documents and trainer instructions for the catering and commercial sectors with the use of multimedia (also as a CD-Rom version);
- a CBT module as a self-learning resource for use in companies and training centres;
- a manual on "Interactive Video Conferencing" for specialist personnel in this area as well as for trainees and instructors;
- an electronic network for instructors and trainees for the purposes of transnational training and exchanging experience.

Impact
The project will make a contribution to the development and dissemination of self-learning media in the catering and commercial sectors and support communication between the partners via electronic media.
