Objective
The project proceeds from the view that intercultural and conflict-based disruptions in communication between disadvantaged young people and their vocational training instructors often causes the young people concerned to discontinue their vocational training, thus causing more far-reaching crises in their personal lives as well as social isolation. The aim of the project is, therefore, to improve disadvantaged young people's capacity to deal with conflict situations in vocational training institutions as well as increase the competence of trainers in handling such situations, thus making learning and communication more efficient as a whole.
The objective is to increase young people's personal resources and skills through the joint development and testing of suitable methods and applying them in the area of vocational training so as to protect these youngsters from further isolation and improve their prospects of gaining access to the labour market. The partners intend, for this purpose, to focus their co-operative efforts on two subject areas, i.e. "Evaluation methods in working with conflict situations" and "Practical methods of handling conflict situations", as well as organising specialist conferences on these themes. The product of the project is intended to comprise a jointly developed combination of methods for a curriculum on how to deal with conflict situations during exam preparations.
Impact
The project will help improve the access of disadvantaged young people to the labour market by using the conflict-counselling concept to reduce the numbers of people discontinuing vocational training.
