Objective
Great challenges lie ahead in the field of vocational training, especially with regard to tutors and teachers. In quantitative terms, targets have been set in Spain for the involvement of more than 100,000 companies in training schemes by 2002. In qualitative terms, tutors and teachers must have a clear understanding of new European and global realities and they must be able to adapt to rapidly changing circumstances. With this in mind, this project will:
- conduct a survey on the importance of training in industry;
- design industry training models and scenarios, drawing on comparisons of experiences between the partner countries;
- examine ways of improving institutional co-operation on industry training;
- specify new training and technical requirements for tutors;
- organise open debates and discussions on the issues.
One of the main products will be a "basic guide for tutoring", comprising a book of 100-150 pages and technical supports such as overhead slides and a CD-Rom. This would be used for 10-12 hour tutor up-dating sessions.
Impact
This project will have an impact on the relevance of training programmes with regard to industries' needs and will ensure that future training delivery is focused on adapting workers' skills.
