Practices and skills in the stone-work industry

Objetivo

To promote new trends in the stone-work industry, it is necessary to encourage training in new technologies and emphasise the value of the creative and artistic qualities inherent in stone-work craft activities. This project, which involves five stone-production sites in four different European countries, aims to promote co-operation and develop a "market/training needs" relationship, and to develop a European dimension in relation to guidance/vocational training and create real mobility for people seeking employment. The partners will set up a database of practices and skills at each European site as well as develop an educational tool based on the information gathered. This tool will serve as:
- a new educational support and training aid;
- a reference guide for the sector;
- a reference guide for training managers and other organisations with a regional and cultural interest in stone;
- an orientation tool for young people looking for information on the stone-work sector and possible mobility of employment in Europe.

Each of these national and transnational partners will contribute its experience and market knowledge to enhance the needs-analysis phase and then select a certain number of relevant skills to facilitate the setting-up of a representative database for the sector.

Impact
This project will help develop new trends in the stone-work industry by setting up new- technology training programmes to underline the value of the creative and artistic qualities of occupations in the sector.
