Continuing vocational education to achieve a reduction in the use and effects of dangerous chemical products in Europe

Objective

This project aims to develop, test and disseminate training programmes on the registration and management of chemical products, including safety and environmental issues, for use in various trades and businesses, i.e. the shipping industry. Particular emphasis will be given to professions such as painting/spray-painting and cleaning/sanitation.

The partners will develop a training curriculum and material consisting of books, videos and a database in 8 European languages. These will primarily be targeted at SMEs, but will also be suitable for use in basic vocational training programmes at all levels. In medium and large companies, and public services, the number of chemical products is so great that electronic registration is necessary. The project will develop methods to facilitate such registration using electronic card files.

Impact
The project will contribute to the private and public sector reduction of the number of chemical products and of the use of the most hazardous chemicals, a reduction in the effects of chemicals and in waste discharge into the environment and of costs.
