Young Europeans' office skills

Objective

To increase employment opportunities for young people in the European business sector, education and vocational training strategies need modernising and to be made more general. Business administrators in particular need an 'all round' flexible approach to European business practices and issues, including improved information technology and language skills. The purpose of this pilot project is to establish a system of 'practice enterprises' to upgrade business vocational training at upper secondary school level. The aims are to:
- prepare young people for new employment demands;
- introduce a European dimension to career choices and business start-up possibilities;
- and facilitate the development of a holistic approach through project-based, problem solving activities.

Students will also be offered the opportunity to organise and participate in a trade fair. The project partnership will establish a strong support network for the development of a multi-disciplinary business studies course to complement 'practice enterprise' activity. An accompanying multi-lingual manual will record project outcomes for dissemination to other European partners.

Impact
The main impact will be the integration of a practical training component into business studies which will contribute to a transnationally approved syllabus. Students will attain a broad range of transferable skills to meet new demands and increase their employment opportunities.
