Objective
The partners of this project feel that there is a need to reduce the differences between competence development methods and training arrangements in their respective national systems. The objective is to promote co-operation between training organisations and companies with a view to developing 'alternate training' (alternating training and work experience) for young people in Europe.
To achieve this, they will develop a European 'alternate training model' that will be designed to encourage worker mobility and reduce social exclusion. The project also aims to develop personalised training methods. Concrete activities will include:
- a study of European alternate training systems;
- identification of key competences;
- design of curricula for alternate training trainers and planners;
- development of a placement programme and trainer training modules;
- and the production of a CD-Rom for use by trainers, mentors/tutors and apprentices.
Impact
This project will increase the effectiveness of initial vocational training with regard to the needs of the labour market.
