Objective
This project is designed to bridge the gap between traditional training methods for teachers in the field of vocational guidance and the new requirements and realities of the European job market. Career advisers are often social studies experts who need to be acquainted with market requirements, business training objectives/strategies and recruitment procedures. They must be able to promote the overall quality of vocational guidance for students and advise on flexible, professional options. The objective of this project is therefore to develop an in-service training programme for teachers in vocational schools and to provide them with a modern view of vocational guidance, business trends and change management.
Teachers will be actively involved in the research and in the interim/final evaluation of students' response to career counselling activities. The European partners will work on the development of standard European vocational training procedures for European job profiles and evaluation of a credit system. The expected products are:
- market research on the vocational training needs of hotel/catering establishments;
- a study of selection procedures and in-service personnel training within hotel/catering establishments;
- information packages on school training programmes for hotel/catering staff;
- a multimedia programme for use with the support and supervision of career officers.
Impact
This project will lead to the launch of a two year experimental course on "career advising" and possible institutional recognition of the target job profile.
