The advanced course in neuroradiology

Objective

Neuroradiology is a specific medical field with a great need for continuing education due to the exceptionally fast technological advances that have an impact on it. Every year, there is a modest number of post-graduate students in Europe. Neuroradiology curricula furthermore vary widely throughout Europe.

The creation of a masters programme will promote progress towards common educational contents and methods. The partners will work for better use of multimedia tools with a view to substantially increasing the efficiency of teaching. More precisely, they will develop dedicated training tools to support the European Advanced Course of Neuroradiology (a SOCRATES project), including video-conferencing, a database, CD-Roms and an Internet site. The development of these tools will be tested and evaluated by national and European institutions that are part of the scientific community.

Impact
The project is mainly targeted at radiologists. Neurologists and neurosurgeons could also benefit from it. The professors in charge of the course will profit from the exchange of experience. The compilation of experiences and knowledge resources in a database will serve the needs of neuroradiology and research programmes. Students will benefit from excellent teaching, with a definitive recognition of the value of this specialisation.
