Objective
The labour market situation of women with training in home economics is influenced by various negative factors. These occupations have a poor image because the work is not recognised by society, and management positions are occupied by men, even though the proportion of women in this occupation is higher. The increasing cost pressure in the welfare and healthcare sectors is leading to a reduction in the number of jobs for domestic workers in large establishments, and it is primarily women who are affected by this.
The aim of this project is to provide female domestic workers with a qualification in quality management in large households, taking account of special national, regional, and establishment-specific features.
This continuing education will be offered to managerial and operative personnel. The trained household managers will then act as multipliers, and train operative personnel in-house in quality management issues. The beneficiaries of this continuing education will be domestic workers in large households and unemployed women with qualifications in home economics, as well as users of large households such as old people, those needing care, the sick, and the large households themselves.
Impact
The project will contribute to the social recognition of domestic work, improve women's opportunities in the labour market (job preservation, promotion opportunities) by means of the additional qualification in quality management, and promote equality of opportunity for men and women.
