Expanded regional continuing training in Europe

Objective

The project will contribute to the reintegration of women in rural regions into working life by offering tailor-made qualifications. A method will be developed which, through integrated subjective analysis of needs and skills, an objective inquiry into need, and curriculum development, will allow women from four different rural regions of Europe to qualify for service-sector employment in the fields of health care and tourism and for creating new small firms in the tourist sector. It will be a particularly action-oriented and interactive methodology.

The methodology will consist of a new method of "seeking out" potential participants using counsellors from the same background as the women to be surveyed. They will be questioned about their interests, wishes, and ideas and their perceived competencies, and an inventory of these will be drawn up. A tailor-made training programme consisting of a number of modules will be developed and set up. This will subsequently be distributed in various comparable European regions.

The methodology will be further tested in other regions in the form of pilot projects for the target groups of the elderly and the handicapped.

Impact
With the aid of the knowledge gained in the study, both equality of opportunity for women and the development of rural regions will be promoted.
