Objective
The project is concerned with the growth and development of the European furniture industry. Research has shown that there is a significant need for a new type of European manager in this sector. The objective of the project is, therefore, to create a new occupation profile and relevant training to enable European furniture industry managers to operate in an international environment.
The main result of the project will be a self-learning kit comprising : a CD-ROM based multimedia system; self-evaluation tests on existing levels of knowledge and skills acquired during the course; bibliographical references; and information on international data banks. There will be general training modules on the European furniture industry, as well as specific modules on intercultural communication and international marketing. The kit will be produced in Italian and French.
The direct beneficiaries of the project will be: managers and managing directors of furniture manufacturing SME; graduates seeking work in the industry; students in furniture sector vocational training institutes; and corporate training centres. Efforts will be made to investigate the applicability of the results to other sectors.
Impact
The project will have an impact on training systems and methodologies in the furniture industry, and will ultimately contribute to the development and growth of businesses in this sector.
