Objective
One of the many barriers facing small and medium-sized entering the European market is the low level of qualifications held by business owners and managers.
In this pilot project, continuing education modules will be devised to facilitate qualifications for a specific purpose. These will incorporate the specific characteristics of the German qualifications system, the framework conditions of the EU, and the special features of the potential partner country.
In the first instance, workshops, involving the participating SMEs, will establish the educational strategies and the subject matter. This will be linked to the work of the national working parties. Following this an intensive European exchange of ideas will take place through a series of meetings involving the project advisory board, representing the social partners, and the working parties of the SMEs. The final phase, summarising and publishing the results, will open with the 2nd international project partner workshop.
The result of the pilot project will be European continuing education modules which will become the basis of seminars for managers of SMEs.
Impact
The pilot project relates to the countries of the participating partners and thus represents a cross section of the EU as a whole. On the basis of the experience gained, an extension to all countries of the EU will be possible. This multiplier effect will consolidate and improve European collaboration between educational institutions. The final result will be a modular European training system for promoting the European economic collaboration between small and medium-sized firms.
