Objective
This pilot project is concerned with the acquisition of comparable qualifications for electrical engineering, and related occupational fields, to improve employment prospects in the light of developments in the European internal market. A further aim of the project is to build up a European network so that by cooperation between individual partners a Europe-wide procedure for the recognition of engineering qualifications can be developed.
The pilot project will first clarify the existing educational and organisational structures using the starting point of the different national curricula. The opinion of firms of different sizes about their required qualification profiles and the involvement of social partners will be researched as well as those of students. The curriculum for the "Eurotechnologist" in the field of information and communication technology will be modular and designed around a universally recognised graduation diploma.
Impact
In this project a European engineering qualification will first be defined, with relevant national characteristics built into the curriculum. The recognition of international diplomas will be an essential core element of educational policy and of this project. By acquiring the "Eurotechnologist" diploma, the graduate will be able to make use of his or her education anywhere in Europe. At the same time the project will contribute to technological development and to the competitiveness of firms in the European market.
