Objective
This pilot project, directed at underqualified higher-school or college leavers and unemployed young people, has the objective of developing efficient counselling and information methods, in order to provide appropriate and qualified vocational counselling, even for the socially disadvantaged.
A prerequisite for this will be: the networking of social and vocational counselling and assistance services at the national and international levels; and intensified cooperation between schools, vocational training institutions, and firms, with a particular view to giving people a "second chance" and the combining of learning and work. After an analysis of the counselling and training opportunities at European level, suitable continuing education modules will be developed, in working parties consisting of practical professionals and academics from the participating countries. They will be usable by vocational counsellors, social workers, teachers, trainers, and counsellors in the assistance services. So that the model will be transferred to central and eastern European countries, Hungary will be integrated into this project from the outset.
Impact
The pilot project will promote the networking of the various social services and so increase their efficiency and effectiveness, as the socially disadvantaged will receive help that is individually tailored to their problems. Intensified European collaboration will at the same time help guard against the exclusion of this target group. In addition the project will support the integration of central and eastern European countries into the EU.
