Objective
Since 1974, the European Commission has been working hard to improve disabled people's access to employment. The goal of this pilot project is to create a multilingual multimedia tool gathering all the initiatives, measures and training opportunities meant to encourage the employment of disabled people in Europe. EMPLOYABLE is linked to HANDYNET, a part of the HELIOS program. The intention is to concentrate more specifically on the training of disabled people and of those responsible for their vocational insertion.
The pilot project aims to produce multimedia training modules using distance-learning, to train potential employers, educational supervisors and advisers responsible for the vocational insertion of disabled people, and to draw up an inventory of training opportunities available for disabled people in Europe. EMPLOYABLE also plans to create a job-search service to bring together job seekers and job suppliers, to make a network of initiatives taken by Member States in terms of law and social policy, to share successfully undertaken experiences and to produce self-training modules for the training and guidance of disabled persons by tutors and trainers.
All information and training modules produced by this project will be made available in the eleven official Community languages on the Internet and on a CD-ROM. A communication campaign will introduce the product to interested SMEs, organisations and training centres.
Impact
EMPLOYABLE will contribute to improved social integration for the disabled.
