Objective
The presence of immigrant populations in the countries of the European Union demands specific measures to provide schooling for the children of these migrant workers; to facilitate their access to welfare services; and to protect and promote their rights and duties in the labour market. This pilot project aims to implement a new profession cultural mediator. This person would facilitate the integration of immigrants into society and would help social workers to fight academic failure amongst the children from families with little in the way of economic, cultural, social and linguistic capital.
Scheduled over a two year period, ECM will begin by creating a national and transnational network to examine, study and compare existing training models. The next step will be to create a European model for the qualification of cultural mediator. Finally, it will take all the necessary steps for this title to be recognised nationally.
The final results can be passed on to any training organisation or institution that expresses an interest.
Impact
This pilot project will facilitate the integration of immigrant populations into European society and help them access all welfare services.
