Working experience abroad

Objective

Under the former PETRA Programme, the promoter of this project produced a guide on transnational work placements and exchanges for young people. Its main aim was to provide Italian schools with a methodological and organisational support to enable them to plan and run working placements abroad. Nearly three thousand copies of this guide have already been published and distributed in Italy. Another version of the guide, targeted at vocational training colleges as well as schools, was ordered by the Italian Institute for Vocational Training (ISFOL) and four thousand copies have now been distributed.

Public appreciation of the guide has convinced the partners of this project that it would be worthwhile to translate it into English and French, so that it can be used to plan and organise placements throughout Europe. The Internet will also provide an ideal opportunity to disseminate the guide on a wider basis.

The main objective of this project is therefore to create a web site where the guide can be accessed in Italian, English and French. The site will also contain a database of the Italian schools involved in the organisation exchanges and placements, which can be extended to include information from other countries. The web version of the guide will also be made available also on CD-ROM.

Impact
School teachers and trainers across Europe will benefit from being able to access a state-of-the-art resource for the organisation of transnational exchanges and placements.
