Objective
The civil engineering sector constitutes 10 % of the EU's GDP and 8 % of the GDP in Portugal. Conservation and restoration accounts for 30 to 40 % of the market in Europe as a whole, but for only 7 to 10 % in Portugal. There is therefore great potential for employment growth in this sub-sector.
The aim of this multiplier project is to transfer and disseminate the results of past projects in the conservation and restoration sector funded by the PETRA, FORCE, EUROFORM, EUROQUALIFACTIONS and Leonardo da Vinci Programmes. Relevant existing training materials from these programmes will be adapted to CD-ROM format. Subjects will include : history of art; construction materials and processes; traditional materials; ancient tiles; wood and iron; and stone cleaning. The materials disseminated will benefit SMEs working in the sector and training centres in the partner countries.
Impact
At company level, the impact of this project will be an increased awareness of the potential market for conservation and restoration work, and a sharp increase in the level of relevant skills.
