Objective
This project is the result of discussions between local and international partners on the linguistic needs of SMEs within regional and economic contexts. It has become clear that SMEs face particular problems in respect of foreign language training. The small number of employees in these kinds of enterprises means that it is difficult to send personnel on prolonged training courses. There is a need for flexible language training provision, enabling employees to train as and when they are able, preferably within their place of employment or near to it. Flexible training tools and methodologies are therefore required. In addition, SME managers need the opportunity to make new contacts within Europe if they are to develop the full potential of their enterprises. This project aims to provide these kinds of networking opportunities to all participants, as well as a deeper understanding of the cultural contexts in which other partners work.
The contents of the packages will be based on a training needs analysis carried out in the first phase of the project. By providing flexible and distance training packages for specific-purpose language training e.g. import, export and tourism, the project will provide a major contribution to life-long learning opportunities. It will also meet the needs of employees and enterprises within a wider European context.
Impact
The training provided will lead to recognised qualifications and methods of assessment. It will contribute to the transparency of qualifications in the provision of linguistic skills with accreditation at appropriate level.
