Objective
This multiplier project focuses on one of the most rapidly growing sectors of the EU economy - business start-up. It reflects the growing importance of entrepreneurial activity in the European economy, and is aimed at a group that can be regarded as disadvantaged and under-represented (women entrepreneurs). It will specifically address the problem of the mid-term sustainability of businesses - research shows that over 50% of new businesses fail in the second year.
The project is based on the outputs of a previous NOW project. The partnership will take the original outputs of the NOW project as a starting point, and technically up-grade the software platform from DOS to Windows; review the existing material; and up-grade content and shift the emphasis from women in the UK to European women in both content and approach. Beta versions will be produced in English, Icelandic, Italian and Portuguese. The partners also intend to develop a network of users and trainers and build a web site.
Impact
The project will encourage greater representation of women in the start-up business sector, and promote flexible self-managed training for use in autonomous workgroups.
