Objective
The emergence of the information society is a technological revolution based on access to information, and the way that information is processed and disseminated. In particular, the information superhighway will radically affect work organisation. The information society must become the 'life-long learning society. This means that sources of education and training must be extended beyond traditional institutions to include the home, the community and other non-traditional information access and training locations.
This project aims to develop training content and methods using multimedia materials designed to improve employability and life-long learning in the context of the information society. It will establish a European network of partners to research methods for the development of the training and the most appropriate means of accreditation in each partner region.
The project will develop an interactive training system which will allow time those at a distance to gain expertise on the internet and its associated common boundaries. The training system will encourage those at a disadvantage to access training via the newest methods. The European network will examine in detail how the proliferation of information can be adopted and accredited for the target groups. MIDAS, the system to be developed, will have applications for those at a disadvantage. However, it will also be tested with SMEs and young graduates.
Impact
The new product will enhance the access of individuals (particularly those at a disadvantage) and SMEs to the information society.
