CPD standards project

Objective

The project's aim is to use standards of occupational competence to promote best practice of continuing professional development (CPD) carried out by construction industry practitioners. It is aimed at the organisations in each country who are responsible for continuing education and training of construction professionals, at construction employers, and at the practitioners themselves. More specifically the objectives are to :

- build a European network of collaborating construction industry organisations with similar interests in CPD and vocational standards of competence;
- work towards establishing the structured framework for CPD as an international standard;
- detail a structured framework for CPD for each of the partner countries;
- implement the structured CPD framework on a pilot basis in each country, in a representative variety of situations;
- evaluate the pilots and modify the approach to be used;
- disseminate the results within the partner countries by means of regional workshops, and more widely through an international conference;
- explore the extent to which standards of competence and competence-based vocational qualifications are transferable (or can be adapted) between the partner countries.

Impact
Construction industry/engineering employees and professionals will be better equipped to develop new competences and demonstrate them in the market place.
