Objective
The realisation of offshore wind energy projects has a high-risk profile because of:
1) High investment cost,
2) Restricted accessibility of the location,
3) Technical risk.
The objective of this project is to gain experience and to build up a track record with a small offshore wind farm, to demonstrate availability comparable with onshore installations and to verify the low cost tower design. The 10MW wind farm consists out of 5 turbines located 2km from the Dutch shore The electrical conversion system will be designed for a cluster of turbines in order to minimise number of components and to optimise cost thus contributing to the objectives mentioned.
