Demonstration of an optimised production system for biogas from biological waste and agricultural feedstock

Objective

Many cities are looking for vehicle fuels and waste management systems that are environmental friendly and cost effective. At the same time many regions has a vulnerable agriculture with need for higher competitiveness. This full-scale system for co-digestion of biological municipal waste, lay crops and manure will demonstrate a new way to meet these needs. A new process technique that allows a unique low water content will enable a cost effective production and distribution system. The objectives are to demonstrate: 1. A process technique with new components where energy crops, municipal biological waste and manure is co- digested at a total solids concentration of ca 9-15%. 2. An infrastructure with new components for storing and distribution of the different materials to and from the biogas plant. 3. Competitive as vehicle fuel and waste management system. 4. Advantage for the farmer to be part of the system.
